'I look really different': Adele jokes about weight loss on SNL
Adele had fans in stitches of laughter after her first hosting gig on Saturday Night Live, where she even joked about her incredible transformation.
The 32-year-old took to the stage, where she said: "I know I look really, really different since you last saw me.
"But actually, because of all the Covid restrictions...I had to travel light and I could only bring half of me,"
"And this is the half I chose."
The star was a hit on the night and while she said she wouldn’t be both hosting and singing, she did break out into song during a Bachelor skit.
"I'm here because I've had a lot of heartbreak in my life - first at 19 and then, sort of famously, at 21 and then, even more famously, at 25," she said, referring to the titles of her albums.
During the Bachelor skit, Adele threw in short renditions of Rolling In The Deep, Hello Set Fire To The Rain and Someone Like You.
Adele has been causing waves online recently while showing off the results of her epic 44kg weight loss.
Meanwhile, Adele’s former trainer Pete Geracimo previously insisted she never wanted to get ‘super skinny’.

“As Adele's former London-based personal trainer, it's disheartening to read negative commentary and fat-phobic accusations questioning the genuineness of her amazing weight loss,” he wrote.
“When Adele and I started our journey together, it was never about getting super skinny. It was about getting her healthy. Especially post pregnancy and post surgery. When 25 dropped and the tour announced, we had to get ready for a 13 month gruelling schedule. In that time, she warmed to training and made better food choices.
“As a result, she lost considerable weight and people took notice. Her body transformation was splashed across every media outlet. The attention it generated was mind-blowing.”
‘Is this Adele?’ Fans lose it over glam new look
Over the weekend, fans were stunned as London-born Adele gave them a peek at her notorious funny side in a trailer for the show, even showing off an impressive American accent in response to Kate McKinnon slightly less lacklustre stab at Adlee’s natural cockney tones.
Stills of the hysterical promo were shared to Twitter where fans of the star were gobsmacked to see her ultra-glam new look.
“IS THIS ADELE?????” one fan wondered, struck by her very different 2020 look.
“Who is that........?” another confused individual asked.
“She has no business looking this stunning,” one fan gushed at her stunning look for the show.
“Adele?!?!” another wrote. “Omg she looks amazing.”
“Adele's done the maddest thing... This level of glo up is unprecedented,” another agreed.
Fans hit back at ‘unrecognisable’ reaction
Others, however were frustrated at the apparent shock at her glam look, arguing she has always been a stunner and the reaction betrayed size discrimination over to her weight loss.
“She’s always been gorgeous.,” one pointed out.
“Y’all really [out] here going crazy about her as if she hasn’t always been this gorgeous,” another wrote. “She’s just skinny now ….”
The star may have had a hiatus from the spotlight, but it hasn’t stopped her courting some controversy this year.
Back in August the Londoner shared a photo of herself dressed up in Carnival gear for the Notting Hill festival.
Some argued her sporting the cultural dress, complete with Bantu buns and a headdress was cultural appropriation, however organisers of the festival came to her defence arguing she had always been an active member of the Notting Hill community.
