Stabbed brother of accused Bourke Street killer released from hospital
The brother of the man accused of killing six people and injuring scores of others in Melbourne’s Bourke Street Mall has been released from hospital.
Angelo Gargasoulas was the first alleged victim of Dimitirious "Jimmy" Gargasoulas before the 26 year old went on a violent rampage in the heart of Melbourne on January 20 that left six dead and 37 more in hospital.
Five of those victims remain in hospital with one in a critical condition.
Angelo Gargasoulas was allegedly stabbed in the face and chest and rushed to hospital in a critical condition after an alleged encounter with his brother at Windsor, hours before the deadly events in the city's busiest shopping district.
Angelo’s release from The Alfred Hospital was confirmed yesterday.
He has a case listed for court on Thursday on presently undisclosed charges unrelated to his brother.
Angelo Gargasoulas, days after his injuries and the Bourke Street tragedy, used social media to express his sorrow for the victims of the tragedy.
“No one could've predicted what Jimmy did or that he'd do that, that morning,” he wrote.
“I'm fortunate enough to still have my life and the support I have received is unheard of!!!

“I thank everyone involved in making this an easier time for everyone else involved, and my family.
“As for me, I still got some recovery time to do, and it's all looking good... Still in disbelief, the realism of it all has yet to fully sink in, stay strong Melbourne!”
Angelo’s brother Dimitrious is accused of going from that alleged attack at their mother's Raleigh Street unit in Windsor to the centre of Melbourne, where he then allegedly drove his car down a footpath, leaving a trail of death and heartbreak in his wake.
Dimitrious Gargasoulas has been charged with five counts of murder over the crime, however, another count may be coming after a sixth victim died in hospital earlier in the week.
Bhavita Patel, 33, of Blackburn South, died on Monday night.
She was the sixth person to die as a result of injuries allegedly inflicted by Dimitrious Gargasoulas.
Three-month-old Zachary Bryant, 10-year-old Thalia Hakin, 33-year-old Matthew Si, 22-year-old Jess Mudie and 25-year-old man from Japan were also killed.
