Giant robotic T-Rex bursts into flames at theme park

A giant seven metre tall Tyrannosaurus Rex theme park attraction blew up this week with the shocking incident captured on video.

Canon City, Colorado, Royal Gorge Dinosaur Experience in the US was home to the T-Rex statue and was one of 16 life-size dinosaur exhibits at the museum.

However, the demise of the statue came on Thursday when an apparent electrical fault caused the statue to burst into flames.

The statue smouldered for 10 minutes before it caught fire, Macon.com reported. Visitors watched on as the inferno spread from the dinosaur’s belly to its head.

No injuries were reported as a result of the fire. It left behind nothing but the steel frame and part of the T-Rex’s tail.

“Holy Smokes! We knew T-Rex had a temper, but today he blew his top,” park director Zach Reynolds said in a statement on Facebook.

“There was an unfortunate (and rare) electrical issue in our mighty T-Rex and he is no longer. You might even say... extinct.”

Most of the park remains open for business.
