Internet reacts to 'freaky' photo of three men sleeping on train

A commuter's photo taken to reflect on a depressing morning commute has left viewers on the internet spooked.

Reddit user Thrashbandit took the image on the Northern service to London's Kings Cross station on January 10.

The photo portrays three sleeping commuters who remarkably all look like the same person, and have users debating whether they are three different men.

"I took this photo to capture how depressing commuting is," thrashbandit wrote on the forum site.

"It wasn't until I looked at it that I realised how freaky it looked."

Fellow Reddit users were equally bamboozled, with most commenting on the eerie nature of the image.

Some also speculated the passenger was caught up in a world portrayed in a cult sci-fi movie with one user declaring:"Glitch in the matrix!"

While others saw the funny side to the rare occurrence.

"Generic businessman 1, 2, and 3 reporting for nap time," one user joked.

And another put it down to what they believed was British genetics.

"I swear 70% of men in the UK have one of 3 faces and this is one of them," they wrote.

The image, posted online on Tuesday, has received 125,000 upvotes and over 2,300 comments.

And in response to doubters that the photo was fake, thrashbandit revealed the three men were all very different in person.

"Truthfully, they didn't actually look all that similar in the flesh."
