CCTV reveals why woman's underwear has been disappearing for months

A woman in Hawaii who spent three months wondering why her undergarments were mysteriously disappearing from her clothesline is a step closer to knowing their fate after security vision captured an underwear thief in action.

The garments kept disappearing from her apartment complex in Oahu, and although CCTV cameras filmed a person entering the property and plucking items off the clothesline, there was initially nothing local police could do because the man's face was not clearly identified.

The first theft occurred in October last year, then again recently. This time, the underwear thief wasn't so lucky - cameras clearly captured his face as he went for the underwear.

"I didn't care at first, but it wasn't until I did a huge load of laundry ... that was when I was like, 'Where's the rest of my underwear?'", the woman, who did not want to be identified, told Hawaii News Now.

"We're hoping this time is the last time it happens."

So keen was the victim to track down her missing smalls, she actually hung an item on the clothesline with a bluetooth GPS tracker attached.

"We happened to drive around our neighbourhood and saw a guy that looks like the guy," she said.

"I had my GPS tracker app, I could hear from his backpack that it went off."

Before she could confront the man, however, he ran away.
