Lucky escape for four people sleeping on $1 million boat as it explodes into flames

Four people managed to escape after the million-dollar luxury boat they were sleeping on exploded into flames on a NSW north coast river.

The four fled the boat on Tuesday, about 11.30pm. They had been sleeping while the vessel was moored on the Coolongolook River near the Wallis Lake inlet west of Forster.

The fire caused extensive damage to the vessel and following consultation with specialists from NSW HAZMAT and Roads and Maritime Services, the vessel was towed out to sea, where it eventually sank 30 metres to the ocean floor.
