Passenger's shocking discovery inside economy plane seat pocket

A curious airline passenger has been shocked by what he found in the seat pocket in front of him.

The passenger, who was also a CNN reporter and has not been named, found something he probably shouldn't have on board his economy flight.

When he dug his hands into the seat pocket in front of him he came across a number of top secret US government documents from the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) detailing sensitive anti-terrorism information for Super Bowl LIII in Minneapolis, an event attended by 73,000 people, CNN reports.

The documents were found on board a commercial flight and contained a boarding pass and travel itinerary for a scientist in charge of anthrax drills. The documents reportedly make recommendations for responses to an anthrax attack on US Bank Stadium, where the Super Bowl was played, and criticises a planned response. It's dated December 2017.

CNN decided not to report on the discovery of the documents until after the game. The DHS expressed concern publishing the find might compromise the Super Bowl's security. The network has been unable to verify exactly who left the documents on the plane but the boarding pass belonged to DHS's BioWatch program manager Michael V. Walter.

A DHS official said the issues detailed in the report found on the plane had been addressed and added that the department was confident it had the ability to respond to such an attack.
