WARNING - DISTRESSING CONTENT: Shocking footage has emerged of the moment a young boy was blasted metres into the air after throwing a lit firecracker down a sewer.
The accident happened on a busy street in China and was captured on nearby surveillance cameras.
The footage shows the boy, whose condition after the accident is not known, peering down the hole after dropping the firecracker in.
Just seconds later, an explosion threw him three metres into the air as flames burst from the underground sewer.

The clip was posted to Chinese microblogging website Weibo to warn of the dangers of using firecrackers during upcoming Chinese New Year celebrations.
According to a report from infeng.com, the blast was fuelled by the methane coming from the sewer.
The report did not mention what city the incident took place in, or whether the boy suffered serious injuries.
