At least a dozen people have been injured after a structure collapsed inside the Indonesia Stock Exchange in central Jakarta while crowds were seen running from the building.

Photos show the lobby filled with debris and the floor covered in water after the collapse during the lunch time rush.

Director of the stock exchange, Alpino Kianjaya, declined to comment on the incident.

Images circulated on social media showed a mangled metal structure that had collapsed around a Starbucks cafe near the entrance to the multi-storey building.

TV images showed some people sitting on the steps outside the building.

Police officials were cordoning off the two-tower, multi-storey complex as many people ran away.

Jakarta police said they were seeking more information on the incident.
