Beauty queen dies after Lamborghini bursts into flames in crash

A beauty queen has died two days after a high-speed crash which saw the driver of the luxury sports car she was travelling in tragically burn to death.

Model Stephanie Rivera Camarena, 26, succumbed to her injuries after she was ejected from the Lamborghini in central San Diego, US, in the early hours of November 5.

The driver of the vehicle she was travelling in, 33-year-old Michael Llamas, died at the scene as his 2016 Lamborghini veered off North Harbor Drive at high speed, according to police.

Llamas was a former CEO of a medical marijuana company and was due in court after pleading guilty to conspiracy to commit wire fraud.

The vehicle veered off the road before slamming into a palm tree and ploughing into an ornamental roadside anchor, leaving the car in a ball of flames, Fox 5 reported.

His body was found inside the car after he became trapped at the wheel.

Rivera, a former winner of the Miss Earth Baja California beauty pageant, was found by emergency crews lying in the street near the burning wreckage.

Harrowing footage from a bystander of the aftermath shows the fire burning intensely as debris is scattered across the road.

The medical examiner has ruled Llamas' death an accident.
