First photos emerge from Amazon warehouse in Victoria
Online retail giant Amazon is set to open its first distribution centre in Australia with pictures from its Victorian warehouse emerging.
The warehouse, built on 24,000sqm in Dandenong South, has a sign out front welcoming “Amazonians”, prompting speculation as to when the warehouse will begin shipping.
“It’s still day one! Are you ready to make a difference?” the sign reads.
It’s not known when “day one” is, but analysts from financial group CITI predict Amazon will start its new operation sometime next month, ahead of "Black Friday" on November 24.
In the US, Black Friday is the day following Thanksgiving and is considered to be the start of the Christmas shopping period.

But even though that’s less than a month away and there are cars parked outside the centre in Melbourne's southeast, bulldozers and other work gear suggest there’s still work to be done.
In a statement, Amazon’s director of operations for Australia Robert Bruce said the Dandenong South centre was “just the start”.
"This new fulfilment centre will stock hundreds of thousands of products which will be available for delivery to customers across Australia when we launch our retail offering," Mr Bruce said.
