'I have to push!': Mother gives birth on busy Queensland roadside
One of Queensland's newest arrivals has made quite an entry into the world, forcing her mum to give birth at the side of a busy Queensland highway.
Lydia Kirk and Chris Broucek were only 30 kilometres from Proserpine Hospital on the Bruce Highway when baby Layla Maree decided she just couldn't wait.
"I said to Chris 'I have to push, I have to push!' and he's like 'no you don't!", the new mother revealed.
The doting father echoed Lydia's account, revealing how he urged his partner to wait until they got to hospital.
"I was just trying to drive as quick as I could and I was like 'no, definitely not!'", he recalled.

But Layla Maree clearly had other ideas.
Luckily paramedics weren't too far behind, helping dad Chris cut the umbilical cord.
The happy family is now recovering at home.
