Toddler allegedly run over during fight between his parents

A US toddler is in a critical condition after allegedly being run over in a parking lot while his parents were arguing, it has been reported.

Neighbours said a fight started about 3am on Wednesday when Tamara Roscoe arrived home late from a party.

The fight between the mother and her boyfriend Yacoubian Benner then spilled into the carpark at the Autumnwood Apartments in Memphis and a gunshot was allegedly fired by the father, local station WMC Action News5 reported.

Police said Roscoe tried to drive away from the property with the one-year-old child, but the door was not closed and he fell onto the ground.

"When I saw the baby on the ground, like under the front wheel, that's when I ran out of the house screaming, 'The baby is on the ground! Y'all done hit the baby','" neighbor Shareda Raider said.

The baby is in a critical condition in hospital.

Roscoe was charged with reckless endangerment and driving under the influence.

Benner was charged with aggravated assault and reckless endangerment.
