“You have to inform us,” the passenger says to the driver.

Theey continue to exchange words, with the passenger telling the driver he’s going to report him to the company.

Ms Vaili said the bus was half-full of passengers when the driver decided to stop for 10 minutes while other services passed.

She said another woman asked the driver why they had stopped.

“’Because we have to leave here at 7am’,” Ms Vaili said the driver responded.

“It was so rude.”

Another passenger suggested the bus driver should have told passengers about the 10-minute stop, but the driver yelled back at him.

Ms Vaili said the driver yelled: "If you don’t want to be on this bus then get off".

It was at this point the feud escalated and Ms Vaili started filming to lodge a complaint with NZ Bus.

In a statement NZ Bus said it was investigating the incident and apologised to passengers for any distress caused.

"NZ Bus became aware of the incident when the footage was posted online today," the statement reads.

"It is unacceptable that one of our drivers swore at a passenger as this goes against our company values and customer service goals.

"We have commenced our investigation into the matter and will take appropriate actions with the driver when the investigation is complete."
