Police officer rescues man from being attacked by 'pit bulls'

A US police officer rescued a screaming man from two angry pit bulls by pulling him onto the hood of his car while he was on patrol near a school.

Canadian County Deputy Barrett Storm said he saw a man being chased down the street by two dogs while he was driving by El Reno middle school, located near Oklahoma, on September 16.

The officer told Koko News he saw the unknown man running backwards and shielding himself with a jacket from the dogs that were in “attack mode”.

Deputy Storm said he parked his patrol car, pulled the man onto the hood and swung his baton in the direction of the two angry pit bulls in an attempt to stop them from latching on to either of them.

“They're aggressive, they're coming at us, they're barking,” he said.

“I was just thinking of protecting the guy the whole time.”

Deputy Storm said he banged his baton on the hood of his car to keep the dogs interested until animal control arrived.

The officer said he didn’t use a taser and claimed it “wasn't a time to shoot the guns”.

The owner of the dogs was cited on after the incident for allowing his pets to run away unsupervised.
