Sydney crash causes major 14km-long traffic jam

Traffic was backed up for more than 14 kilometres on Sydney's M4 after a serious crash at Homebush forced the closure of all city-bound lanes.

Authorities were called to a collision between a truck and car about 6:50am just one kilometre west of the Homebush Bay Drive off-ramp.

Fire and Rescue authorities told Yahoo7 a person became trapped when a car and truck collided, causing all lanes eastbound to be closed.

A NSW Ambulance spokesman said a patient was taken to Concord Hospital, but the extent of the person's injuries was not known.

"One patient was treated by paramedics and taken to Concord Repatriation General Hospital,” the spokesperson told Yahoo7.

Traffic queued for about six kilometres after the incident but by 10am traffic had eased off and buses continued as normal.

"There is no continuing impact on the road, buses and traffic are as normal," Mr Wright told Yahoo7.

Buses were initially delayed up to 45 minutes between Prospect and Strathfield.
