'I felt like murdering someone': Man stabbed taxi driver 13 times after watching 'slasher movies'

A Sydney man who randomly attacked a Sydney taxi driver after watching a slasher movie marathon, has been jailed for at least six years.

His vicious attack was recorded by the taxi’s camera. The disturbing video shows the moment Woods stabbed elderly cab driver Neal Kent.

His victim was stabbed 13 times in the frenzied attack.

36-year-old Woods told police he had spent the night drinking heavily while watching slasher movies like the Texas Chainsaw Massacre and Friday the 13th.

"Watching those movies, just giving me the taste for.. making me wanting to emulate that stuff I guess."

Woods then headed out, concealing a 30cm knife with the intention to mug someone.

When he failed to find a victim he jumped in the back of a taxi and led the driver to a secluded Surry Hills laneway.

Instead of paying the fare he used the knife, over and over.

"I freaked out that I didn't have any money so out came Stanley,” he said.

His victim said he could no longer work as a taxi driver and was nervous of people coming up behind him.

Woods later told police he hoped his actions would lead to him being locked up.

The judge sentenced him to at least six and half year’s jail.
