Man runs over cop at Melbourne McDonald's

Bizarre video has been released by Victorian Police showing a Melbourne driver running over a police officer and ramming into an ambulance at a McDonald’s restaurant.

Officers were called to the car park early this morning after staff at the restaurant on the corner of Warrigal and Kingston Roads in Heatherton m where they reportedly found the driver slumped at the wheel.

CCTV of the incident shows a number of officers gathering around the ute and waving a flashlight inside the car apparently attempting to wake the unconscious driver.

Then, without warning, the driver can be seen jolting alert and starting up his ute before reversing sideways off the kerb and into nearby bushes.

The police can be seen treading carefully and steping back from the car but one officer isn’t so lucky and becomes caught under the ute’s wheel. The driver then runs over the man before escaping.

The hunt is now on for the driver of the dark coloured ute, which did not have a number plate and had its roof and side doors spray painted silver.

The injured officer is expected to make a full recovery.
