An adopted US woman discovered she was working in the same office as her birth mother.

The Ohio woman was reunited with her birth mother last week after 38 years apart. She was told that not only did her mother live six minutes away, but she also works in the same office as her, the New York Daily News reports.

La-Sonya Mitchell-Clark, 38, began her search for her birth mother in March after officials released birth records.

Ms Mitchell-Clark typed her mother’s name, Francine Simmons, into Facebook and found out she worked at Infocision, the same place she worked.

“There’s a Francine that works at my job. She works in VR and she works at the front desk,” Mitchell-Clark explained to media.

She sent her mother a Facebook message and then a day later she received a call from her birth mother.

“She called me and I said, ‘Is this Ms. Francine?’ She said, yes. I said, ‘I think I’m your daughter’,” she said.

Simmons told a local radio station she was 14-years-old when she fell pregnant with Mitchell-Clark and she had always wanted to find her daughter after the adoption.

“I had her when I was 15. I was put in a home, a girl’s home. Had her. Got to hold her. Didn’t get to name her, but I named her myself in my heart all these years.”
