Hapless thief gets trapped, caught on CCTV in laughable escape attempt

You can almost feel sorry for this hapless and hopeless crook.

Almost.

Security footage taken in a store, believed to be a Boost Mobile outlet, in California on September 30 shows the man’s failed attempts at burglary.

It also shows his hilarious attempts to escape the scene.

After crashing through the ceiling in a back room, the man makes straight for a corridor.

That was mistake number one.

Mistake number two was letting the security door lock behind him, trapping him in the confined space.

Credit where credit is due though, the crook does not give up.

He tirelessly battles against the one door that seems like it may give way. Finally his dreams are answered and he escapes the corridor.

Unfortunately, there was no way out of that room either so back to the corridor he goes.

Shortly afterwards the Pomona Police Department arrives and the worst night of our petty thief’s life gets even worse.

This isn't the first time thieves have displayed a surprising combination of arrogance and ignorance. Here are our favourite stupid thieves.
