WA cyclist Cameron Meyer is set to miss out on a spot at this year's UCI Road World Championships after missing selection in the Australian team.

Cycling Australia yesterday announced its selections for the elite and under-23 categories of the championships, having released details of the junior squads earlier in the year.

Cadel Evans, Simon Gerrans and Michael Matthews have all been named in the nine-rider elite men's squad.

Under-23 star Robert Power is the only WA rider among the 21 cyclists named yesterday.

Michael Storer and Jai Hindley will both represent the State in the under-19 junior division.

Orica-GreenEDGE pair Meyer and Luke Durbridge have not been named to ride for Australia in either the elite men's road race or individual time trial.

Although Durbridge is expected to ride for OGE in the team time trial, which can be ridden by professional teams, it is understood Meyer is not in consideration for that squad.

Meyer, 26, has been dogged by injury and illness during the European season but has lifted in the past few months, with a stage win at the Tour de Suisse a highlight.

He rode for OGE in the team time trial at the 2012 world championships, securing bronze, but was not in the team which won silver last year.

Durbridge was a part of both world championship rides and has been training hard in the hopes of securing gold after the team missed out on being on top of the podium by less than one second at last year's event.
