Time not running out for Freo: Mundy

The idea Fremantle have one year left in their premiership window has been a popular one following their straight-sets exit from the finals this year.

However midfielder David Mundy says the theory is wide of the mark.

Dockers captain Matthew Pavlich and stars Aaron Sandilands and Luke McPharlin are all nearing the end of their long careers, with most of their likely replacements still finding their feet in the WAFL.

But Mundy said the past few years have proved the club no longer relies on one or two players alone.

"They've been great players for the club and have been here for a long time, obviously, but we certainly don't think once they go we're going to fall off the perch,” he said.

"We've got some really good young guys coming in filling some shoes.

“We've seen in the last two years without Luke and Pav for extended periods, and Aaron, we've had guys come in and play their role and really fill the breach."

The Dockers finished off their year with a grueling training session in 35C heat at Fremantle Oval this morning.

Nathan Fyfe (shoulder), Michael Johnson (back), Anthony Morabito (knee), Zac Clarke (knee) were some of the notable faces missing, but all are expected to graduate back into full training early in the new year.

Michael Walters was at training, but spent the entire session in the gym.
