A 52-year-old Kununurra woman is in intensive care at Royal Darwin Hospital after she suffered head injuries in a horror boat collision at Lake Argyle on New Year’s Day.

Marion O’Kenny, the widow of late East Kimberley icon James O’Kenny, suffered serious face injuries when the jet-ski she was reportedly driving crashed into a 7m leisure boat on the lake.

A 21-year-old jet-ski passenger was treated at Kununurra District Hospital for minor injuries.

The accident occurred at about 10.30am when Ms O’Kenny reportedly lost control of the vehicle, causing the jet-ski to collide with the boat.

Ms O’Kenny was in a serious, stable condition at time of print. The Department of Transport has launched an investigation.
