Green unfussed by Jones lawsuit
World champion boxer Danny Green has brushed aside news that vanquished opponent Roy Jones Jr has filed a lawsuit against him, opting to focus on his upcoming fight with Paul Briggs.
Green scored a sensational win over veteran American fighter Jones in their IBO world cruiserweight title fight last December.
But Jones is now suing Green for allegedly using illegal wrappings in the bout in Sydney and refusing to invoke a rematch clause in the contract.
Jones also claimed he was owed money by Green's promotional company, Green Machine Promotions.
After initially saying Green won the bout fair and square, Jones changed his tune after returning to America and lodged a complaint about Green's hand wraps.
Green remains unfazed about the latest twist in the ongoing saga. "I have far more important and relevant issues to deal with in regards to my upcoming fight with Briggs," he said.
Green is preparing to defend his IBO world cruiserweight title against Queensland bruiser Briggs on July 21.
It will be Briggs' first bout in three years after problems with his adrenal and nervous systems forced him into a temporary retirement.
Briggs, who last week referred to Green as "King Kong", has enlisted the help of former Green trainers Billy Hussein and Jeff Fenech to help him prepare for the fight.
"It's only logical if I'm going to fight King Kong to go to the zoo and find the best monkey trainers," Briggs said.
