Bridget's secret is out

New York photographer Russell James has tipped stardom for Perth musician and model Bridget Malcolm after wrapping up the latest Victoria's Secret photo shoot this week.

"The brand loves her, so I think we are going to see a whole lot more of her," James, who also hails from Perth, said of Malcolm's first-time shoot for the iconic lingerie brand.

"I think she is going to become a major success story in a very short time."

Malcolm, 22 this month, is classically trained on the oboe at the WA Academy of Performing Arts and a former lead oboist in the WA Youth Orchestra. Already she has won contracts with Maybelline, Hugo Boss, Marc Jacobs and Emporio Armani, and taken part in catwalk shows at New York Fashion Week.

"She is focused on her music but she just happens to be inescapably gorgeous," James told AAA Weekend from his home in Woodstock, upstate New York, of the model who is under representation with Chadwick in Perth and IMG Global.

"I don't know much about her. We were introduced and I asked if she would shoot for Victoria's Secret two weeks ago and we brought her back this week. She is just a really delightful kid and I think she has big potential.

"She comes from the same school as Hugh Jackman, so she is in good company."

Supermodels Behati Prinsloo, Adriana Lima and Candice Swanepoel also steamed up James' lens during the shoot for Victoria Secret's Valentine's Day campaign and annual fashion show to be held on November 13.

James also is the founder of the crosscultural collaboration Nomad Two Worlds and its artworks have been installed on four large inflatable and illuminated cubes in the gardens of Bishops See in the CBD as part of Open House Perth this weekend.

The artworks, combining James' photos with indigenous art, were first shown for Celebrate WA in June. They are on show until Thursday.
