Facebook vandal jailed

A self confessed 'troll' Bradley Paul Hampson has been jailed for his offensive posts on Facebook.

The 29-year-old from Brisbane's south vandalised Facebook tribute sites for two dead children in February last year.

On one tribute site for a 12-year-old boy, he wrote "woot I'm dead" across an image of the dead child.

He also posted a photo of the boy's face inside a woodchipper and made it look as though blood was coming out of the machine.

On another site for an eight-year-old girl, he wrote sexually explicit comments and implied he was responsible for raping and killing her.

The boy died in February last year after being stabbed in the chest during a schoolyard fight.

The girl's body was found in a drain near her family home at Bundaberg in the same month.

When police investigated Hampson's personal computer, they found images of missing UK girl Madeleine McCann and murdered UK boy James Bulger with penises drawn on their faces.

There were also almost 200 images of children who had suffered abuse.

Hampson pleaded guilty to distributing child exploitation material, using the internet to menace, harass or cause offence and possessing child exploitation material.

He claimed he defaced the websites because he had been previously harassed online.

He was sentenced to three years' jail and ordered to be released after he serves 12 months. He has already been behind bars for seven and a half months, so will be released in September 2011.
