Steve Marinchick arrived at Southport on Wednesday morning dressed in drag.
He told 7 News he believed he would get better treatment if he appeared as a woman.
"Domestic violence equals gender bias and primal fear," he said.
"[I'm] just showing my diversity, my abilty to adapt."
The Magistrate ignored his unusual attire and adjourned the matter.
