Woman racially abused on Melbourne train

A woman has been bashed and racially abused by another woman on a train in Melbourne's north.

Senior Constable Michael Potter said a woman made racial remarks before grabbing a 26-year-old woman by the neck and hair and bashing her head into the train carriage wall several times.

The offender then pushed the victim off the train as it stopped at Batman Railway Station on September 25.

Snr Const Potter said police were still reviewing CCTV vision and were appealing to two men who helped the woman at the train station to contact police.

The offender is perceived to be Caucasian, about 177cm tall, solid build with short brown hair and light-coloured eyebrows. She was wearing baggy jeans, a puffy black hooded top and runners.
