Fire crews tackle fuel tank blaze

Fire crews are mopping up after a blaze in a redundant fuel tank at the former Port Stanvac oil refinery site, south of Adelaide.

The Metropolitan Fire Service (MFS) said the blaze, on Refinery Rd, was now extinguished.

At the height of the blaze, the MFS warned motorists to take care because smoke was impeding visibility, but it said there was never a danger to the public.

Firefighters sprayed foam onto the tank and had to wait for to cool before declaring the blaze fully extinguished.
