Hunt for a killer after body found

Police are hunting a killer after a man was ambushed and murdered in the front yard of his Paradise home this morning.

They believe it was a targetted attack and they’re investigating the victim’s links to organised crime.

Amin Asrawe had just arrived home early this morning after finish work in the city at 4.30am when he was attacked at the front of his Avenue Rd home.

His wife was inside at the time.

“It is a brutal death,” Detective Inspector Greg Hutchins

“His wife is aware – she’s obviously deeply upset.”

A man driving past found his bloodied body face-down in the garden at 6.15am.

There is at least one report of arguing in the street about an hour earlier, with one resident saying they heard ‘a bit of quarrelling’.

Police cordoned off the area and located a blood trail.

Detectives said whoever murdered Mr Asrawe possibly ran to a getaway car in nearby Urban Ave.

They do not believe the attack was random, and are investigating whether the victim was murdered in connection with his work as a debt collector.

“The male victim is a person who is also in debt recovery business and has links to criminal associates,” Det Insp Hutchins said.

Neighbours are shocked.

‘We live in Paradise, but ah, it was hell last night,” one said.

Police want anyone with information to come forward.
