Smashed that: Prank caller cons workers into breaking down storefront window

Fast food workers have been fooled by an elaborate and embarrassing hoax in the US.

The Burger King employees were conned by the pranksters over the phone into smashing down the front windows of their restaurant in a bid to keep the establishment from ‘exploding’.

The local police department said employees at the chain received a phone call from a pranker claiming to be from the fire department.

The caller reportedly stated the restaurant was 'pressurised' and could 'explode' at any moment.

The perplexed employees were then instructed to ‘relieve’ the pressure by smashing the windows of the popular fast food location.

Footage captured from the scene shows the windows being smashed by the workers, with crowds gathering around to witness the bizarre spectacle.

Investigators are currently trying to identify and locate the prank caller.

Local authorities say that there have recently been similar calls made to other fast food restaurants in the area.

It's believed the callers claim the restaurants are filled with dangerously high levels of carbon monoxide.

The damage bill is estimated to be around $10,000.

No word yet on exactly how red-faced the workers are feeling however it's believed the prankers were not trying to murder any burgers.

While this is an undeniable good prank, there are many others that have gone viral.
