WATCH: Floored man set upon during violent Adelaide brawl

Police are appealing for witnesses after a man unable to stand was set upon during a drunken brawl on Adelaide’s notorious Hindley Street.

With music blaring at 4:30 on Sunday morning, vision obtained by 7 News shows a man crawling backwards trying to escape a violent brawl as another takes his shirt off, spoiling for a fight.

Horrified witnesses filmed the clash from the balcony of the Woolshed as a man was repeatedly punched in the head.

The fight then spilled onto the road, bringing traffic to a stop.

One man fell backwards, smacking his head on a bike rack before another punch was thrown, missing its target completely.

Police said they are not surprised but warned that it's about to get a lot harder to escape criminal punishment.

“What I suggest the victim does is make contact with police,” SA Police Assistant Commisioner Paul Dickson told 7 News.

“It is concerning because people go out for a good night out.”

Police added that had they been present, their new state of the art body worn camera would have provided critical vision.

“The evidence that's collected by the body worn video can easily be collected by the courts, resulting in more guilty verdicts,” Police Minister Peter Malinauskas said.

Without their own vision, police are now urging anyone who recognises the people in that video to come forward.
