Wife killer Baden-Clay ‘not coping’ behind bars
Convicted wife killer Gerard Baden-Clay has reportedly cracked under the pressure of prison life, breaking down in tears.
Seven News has learned the former real estate agent was working in the metal shop at Wolston Correctional Centre, when he broke down “sobbing uncontrollably”.
Sources say Baden-Clay told prison staff his murder conviction is finally dawning on him and he is not coping with his life sentence.
Baden-Clay was found guilty of killing his wife Allison, whose body was found on a creek bank in Brisbane's west 10 days after she was reported missing on April 20, 2012.
According to 7 News, Baden-Cay was returned to his cell after the breakdown, which happened 12 days after the High Court reinstated his murder conviction.
Sources say Baden-Clay continues to wear his wedding ring and has pictures of himself and Allison, including their wedding photo, pinned to a board in his cell.
Baden-Clay will serve a minimum 15 years in prison under his life sentence.
