'Mom's gone to heaven. You don't have to fight anymore': Couple dies within moments of each other

A US couple have remained inseparable until their deaths, passing away in the same nursing home within twenty minutes of each other.

Henry and Jeanette De Lange were married in 1953 and after more than sixty years of marriage they died together in the same room on the afternoon of July 31.

The pair, from South Dakota, had five children and nine grandchildren.

According to KSFY, the couple's children were alerted to their parents' deteriorating health when the nursing home phoned them.

"They said both your mom and dad aren't doing very well at all. Highly recommended that we get there as soon as we could," son Lee De Lange told KSFY.

Jeanette De Lange, 87, had been in care for about five years and had been suffering from Alzheimer's Disease.

She passed away first, at 5.10pm.

Her husband Henry was 86 and had prostate cancer and was moved into the nursing home as his condition was deteriorating following recent falls.

He passed away at 5.30pm.

Their son Lee told KSFY that Henry had visited Jeanette every day before they were in the home together.

"It was very sweet," Lee said.

Before Mrs De Lange passed away peacefully she was joined by family members and Psalm 103 was being read to her at the time of her death.

"My brother Keith said to my dad, said 'mom's gone to heaven. You don't have to fight anymore, you can go too if you want'," Lee told KSFY.

Henry then reportedly looked at his wife and closed his eyes, before passing away about five or ten minutes later.

“We’re calling it a beautiful act of God’s providential love and mercy,” Lee reportedly said.
