Relatives of the couple have revealed how their family is dealing with the shock and heartbreak of the news and said the accused killer was a "really good man".

"He never drink, never smoke, all he does, he just wants to build a future for his family," she said.

"The news we heard, it really break our heart," a woman who didn't want to be named told The Brisbane Times.

One Kippa-Ring resident told The Brisbane Times he heard one man yelling in the street but thought it was 'drunk kids'.

When he later investigated further, that's when he saw "shadowy figures" in the driveway.

Neighbour Nuan O'Doherty said she was first alerted to the unfolding tragedy by a child's screams.

"I hear only the girl screaming," she said.

"I don't know what happened and I go out and see all the police. It makes my kids very worried."

Police say they are still investigating the cause of the incident.
