Three days after Molly went missing her owner 13-year-old Iyesha Collins saw a man walking her dog in the neighbourhood.

Molly was given to Iyesha, after her stepfather tragically passed away.

Annette Collins told 7 News she was left in tears when she was told her dog had been found.

“She’s the most incredible dog, she’s my everything… she even has her own Facebook page and Christmas presents,” she said.

The two-year-old bitsa somehow travelled all the way from Queensland to Victoria in just over two months.

The family had all but given up hope that their dog was still alive.

“We had a vigil, we lit and candle and said goodbye,” she told 7 News.

"We figured that either she'd been run over or something bad had happened".

But a few days ago she got the call to say her dog was still alive.

No one could tell the family where she had been but she had put on about 1.7kg.

In a strange turn of events police were chasing a man in a Melbourne park when they managed to catch his dog. It turned out to be Molly.

Thankfully the family could be reunited with their pooch before Christmas.

While they wonder what Molly got up to on her big adventure, they were happy to have her back safe at home.

“Could you imagine? She’d have some amazing stories,” Annette said.
