A 16-year-old girl in the US has allegedly escaped from a kidnapper by kicking him in the face and running away.

The girl was allegedly kidnapped while she was waiting for her school bus in Katy, Texas on Monday morning reports Opposing Views.

Police said the girl who has not been identified, was waiting for her school bus shortly before 7am when a man grabbed her by her arm. He then threatened the girl and drove her around a nearby parking lot for an hour.

The girl told investigators that the man then parked his vehicle and spent another hour asking her questions about her name, age and address.

She said she refused to answer any of the man’s questions and that she cried the whole time.

When the man looked away, the teenager seized her opportunity and kicked him in the face, before she jumped out of the vehicle and ran to safety.

Neighbour Mayra Chavez who was shocked by the incident said she was impressed by the girl’s actions.

"That's really impressive. I know a lot of kids would be very scared, but for her to do that, that's really brave,” she told KPRC.

Local resident Trudy Johnson said: "God bless her. Thank God she got away from him."

Both the women were shocked that a kidnapping had happened in their area.

"It's a pretty sedate neighborhood," Ms Johnson told KPRC. "We have our little bit of (vandalism) stuff, kid stuff. But nothing like this.”

Ms Chavez added that she did not know what to think about the awful incident.

Police are searching for the kidnapper, who is described as a bald black man between the ages of 45 and 50. The teenager said he had a mustache with a goatee and noted that he was driving a white, older model Honda, possibly a 2000 or 2001.
