Armed with a laptop, keyboard and microphone, Rockingham musician Josh Sean East will deliver a set of upbeat alternative electro at next weekend's inaugural Baldivis Easter Party in the Park.

One of dozens of talented Rockingham people to take the stage at Tranby School Oval, East said his interest in making music began during his high school years and had continued since he graduated three years ago.

During his study for qualifications in English and history at Murdoch University, East said he had developed his own sound and was working on a debut EP.

The 20-year-old said he drew on his love of literature, current affairs and relationships, as well as general observations, when crafting the tracks.

"I draw on lit and a bit of poetry in my music - I have a bit of a political piece called The Last of Us, which talks about Australia," East said.

"I've recently worked with a producer called No Qualms in Sydney, who has mixed and mastered the track and another track called Pulse."

East said he had considered putting his music out there through Triple J's Unearthed initiative, but hoped to release a whole package to the public in the near future.

He said he was gradually building a collection of hardware and software to streamline the producing process.

"I've done a few gigs, but not many recently as I've been on prac for my diploma of education," East said.

"Party in the Park should be a really good day."

The event, which runs between 2pm and 9pm on March 28, will also include Aaron Gwynaire, Steve Branson - DJ, BR Beats, Little Bird, Bermuda Lights, Ben Cattely and more.
