Traffic and domestic violence charges

Fremantle Detectives have charged a man after he attempted to evade them in Fremantle last night.

A police spokesman said officers noticed a Holden Statesman breach a stop sign at the corner of Watkins Street and Carrington Street, Fremantle about 9.45pm and then continue at high speed along Carrington Street.

"An attempted was made to stop the vehicle, however it will be alleged the driver failed to stop and attempted to evade officers through a number of streets, ending up on Canning Highway," the spokesman said.

"On approach to the traffic lights at the corner of Douglas Street, Como the Holden Statesman collided with a silver Toyota Camry and a green Ford Falcon.

"The driver, a 27-year-old man from Greenfields, was taken into custody and it was established he was a person of interest to a domestic violence incident in Greenfields last month."

In relation to the incident last night, the accused has been charged with:

• Steal Motor Vehicle
• Fail to Stop (to evade police)
• Reckless Driving (to evade police)
• No Authority to Drive
• Possess a Prohibited Drug (Cannabis)
• Possess Drug Paraphernalia
• Breach of Bail

In relation to the domestic violence incident the accused has been charged with:
• Aggravated Common Assault
• Threats to Kill
• Being Armed in a Way that May Cause Fear
• Criminal Damage
• Steal Motor Vehicle
• Stealing

The accused was refused bail and was held in custody to appear in the Perth Magistrates Court today.
