Cabbie denies sex assault charges

A former taxi driver has denied indecently assaulting a passenger in the front seat of his car earlier this month.

Sunil Kumar Saharan, 28, appeared in Perth Magistrates Court today where he pleaded not guilty to six counts of unlawful indecent assault.

Police allege he assaulted a 28-year-old woman while her four companions were in the back seat of his car.

The group hailed the taxi on Albany Highway in Victoria Park at 4.20am on September 7.

Mr Saharan, who is on a 457 visa, is no longer working as a taxi driver.

The court was told he had surrendered his passport and had no criminal record.

Mr Saharan was released on bail and will appear in court again on December 2.
