Man charged over BMW theft and chase

A 37-year-old man has been charged with burglary, stealing and driving offences after a police chase ended in a crash in Balga yesterday.

Police will allege they spotted a stolen BMW Mini on Walderton Avenue about 2.30pm.

It will be alleged the car was stolen from Floreat earlier in the day.

A police spokeswoman said the driver then refused to stop for police, leading them on a short chase until he collided with another car at the intersection of Princess Road and Wilmington Avenue.

He was arrested at the scene of the crash.

The 37-year-old man, of no fixed address, is due to appear in Perth Magistrates Court today.

His charges include failing to stop, reckless driving, two counts of stealing a motor vehicle, four counts of stealing, one count of burglary and two counts of aggravated burglary.
