Prosecutors have dropped an extortion charge against disgraced Peel Health Campus whistleblower Ashton Foley.

Ms Foley appeared via videolink from Victoria in the Perth Magistrate's Court under the name Michelle Marie Foley on one charge of demanding property by oral threats.

Prosecutors discontinued the charge saying it was no longer in the public interest to proceed with the prosecution.

Ms Foley previously indicated she would fight the charge which related to an allegation she threatened to release sensitive documents from the health campus to the media unless she was paid more than $40,000.

Last year, Ms Foley handed hundreds of internal health campus documents to the Labor Party in WA and testified to a Parliamentary Committee accusing the hospital of fraud and corruption.
