Riewoldt suffers bizarre self-inflicted injury
MATCH CENTRE: St Kilda v Essendon
St Kilda skipper Nick Riewoldt was forced off the field early in his side's clash with Essendon with one of the strangest injuries you'll see.
The 33-year-old leaped up for a contested mark when he collided with his opponent and landed awkwardly.
He immediately came to the sideline and asked the doctor to take a look at his eye.
As you can see in the video above, Riewoldt landed heavily on his elbow, which in turn propelled his thumb straight into his eye.
Luckily for the Saints he was able to return a short time later, but it will undoubtedly go down as one of the most bizarre self-inflicted injuries ever seen.
