Messi's heartbreak voted best sports photo of 2014
Barcelona and Argentina forward Lionel Messi is used to picking up awards in football.
But he contributes to this one without realising.
Messi was spotted gazing forlornly at the World Cup trophy after Argentina lost 1-0 to Germany in the final in Rio de Janeiro.
Bao Tailiang of the Chengu Economic snapped the picture titled 'The Final Game'.
It was named best sport image by World Press Photo.
While he may have missed out on the biggest trophy on offer, he was awarded the Golden Ball as the tournament's best player.
He then missed out on the Ballon d'or to Portugal's Cristiano Ronaldo.
