I will keep killing until I am dead: gunman

The hunt in northeastern England for a crazed gunman Raoul Moat has entered its fifth day.

Armed police are hunting Moat, who they believe shot his ex-girlfriend, killed her partner and wounded a policeman in northeast England on Saturday.

Moat was released from prison on Thursday but two days later he allegedly went on the rampage, firing at Samantha Stobbart, shooting dead her boyfriend Chris Brown and leaving a policeman fighting for his life.

Police said the 37-year-old was under the false impression his ex-girlfriend Samantha Stobbart had started a relationship with an officer.

The deranged former bouncer has vowed to keep killing officers until he dies, The Daily Mail reports.

Moat is believed to be holed up in a secret hideout in woodland, armed with two shotguns and enough ammunition to slaughter dozens of police officers.

But last night there were growing fears that he may have slipped through the net after dumping a car that he had been using to try to throw police off the scent.

Yesterday the village of Rothbury in Northumberland was in lockdown as police invaded the area with helicopters and 300 armed officers.

The gunman knows the woods well due to dating local teenager, Yvette Foreman, 16 years ago.

"He would definitely know his way round. It's his favourite place in the whole world. He knows the woods and hills like the back of his hand," Yvette said.

Fugitive Moat earlier taunted British police via the internet and posted a warning to "watch and see what happens" after being released from prison to find he had "lost everything".

The Daily Mail also reports Moat delivered a 49-page handwritten 'murder statement' to a friend to pass on to police, outlining his confession with the chilling words, "I will keep killing until I am dead".

The confession letter includes furious tirades against former friends, including one he threatens to kill.

"I've got a good mind to come back and shoot them," it reportedly reads.

He also admits to being a "killer and a maniac" in the letter.

Moat allegedly posted a message on his Facebook page shortly before Saturday's shootings which said: "Just got out of jail, I've lost everything, my business, my property and to top it all off my lass of six years has gone off with the copper that sent me down."

"I'm not 21 and I can't rebuild my life. Watch and see what happens."

Moat allegedly went on to mock police online with a post which read: "Ha, Ha! You can come but you can't catch me!"

Although his profile has restricted access, police will be monitoring it for updates as the hunt for him continues.

Some of Moat's 87 Facebook friends expressed shock at the events and wrote comments stating that he loved his children.

One described a dedicated father who was driven over the edge by the fear of losing his three children.

Lana Potts wrote on Facebook that she feared he would "take is own life b4 they get im".

She added: "Sam ment everyfing 2 im and she broke is heart e cudn cope wivowt her rip mate a knw yal b gone 2nite love al us x."

Miss Stobbart, who was injured in the shooting, was also a regular user of the social networking site.

Her busy Facebook page is visible to the public although she has not updated it since April.

Earlier this year the 22-year-old exchanged affectionate online Valentine's Day messages with Moat.

But the pair's internet communication also allegedly prompted violence.

Miss Stobbart's grandmother, Agnes Hornsby, said Moat arrived at her house in Gateshead one evening last year, armed, because he believed Miss Stobbart was with another man.

The 69-year-old said: "He threatened us with a gun when she was here, all because she'd put on her Facebook that she was going out with a friend."
