Man who vandalised children's graves avoids jail
A vandal who damaged 68 graves at cemetery in Sydney’s west, many of them marking the resting places of children, has been fined but avoided jail.
A court heard Nassem Raad received a nine-month suspended sentence and was ordered to pay more than $63,000 in damages.
The court heard he showed no remorse for his actions in damaging graves at the Rookwood Cemetery in 2015.
Most of the graves were in the Greek and Ukrainian sections of the cemetery with many marking the resting place of babies.
