WATCH: Boy, 3, filmed running around petrol station alone at 4.30am

Shocking CCTV has shown a parent’s worst nightmare, as a young child ran about a petrol station on his own in the dead of night.

Footage filmed in the Detroit petrol station forecourt showed the child, 3, in his pyjamas, running across the area about 4.30am.

He was then filmed walking into the shop, where he was given lollies by an employee who contacted police.

WXYZ News reports the boy was driven around the area by police to see if he recognised any of the homes.

US Police has since confirmed the boy has been reunited with his mother.

The boy’s mother arrived at the petrol station about 6am, after he heard police cars had been there.

It’s unclear how he got to the petrol station.

The mum told police she had left her apartment to talk to a friend in her car.

When she returned she found her son was missing.

Child protection officers will reportedly investigate the incident.
