Man charged after toddler found 'unresponsive' in Sydney car

A man has been charged with assaulting a young girl who is fighting for her life in hospital after she was found unresponsive in a car in Sydney’s west.

Police were called to a Guildford West home and found the two-year-old girl had gone into cardiac arrest before 3.30pm.

A 22-year-old man accused of beating the toddler has been charged with reckless assault causing grievous bodily harm.

He will appear in Parramatta Local Court on Tuesday.

Officers gave the child CPR at the scene before paramedics could arrive.

The girl is now fighting for her life at Westmead Children’s Hospital.

“The circumstances surrounding the incident are not yet known,” a police spokesperson said.

Investigations are continuing.
