Woman hit by police car while crossing road in Bankstown

WARNING - GRAPHIC CONTENT: A woman has escaped serious injury after being hit by a police car while crossing a road in Bankstown, in south-west Sydney on Thursday morning.

The vehicle was on its way to a job and was travelling with its lights and sirens on when the 19-year-old was struck on Marion Street, according to police.

7News has obtained security video of the accident, which shows the moment the woman was hit.

It's reported the car was not involved in a pursuit.

Paramedics treated the woman at the scene before she was taken to Liverpool hospital, where she remains in a stable condition.

Police say the accident happened just after 6.30am on Thursday.

The two police officers were not injured in the crash.

Police are investigating why the woman did not hear the car which had its sirens on at the time of the accident.

The Crash Investigation Unit attended to examine the scene, reportedly closing the street for hours.
