Hungry Jacks aims to scare off 'chip-addicted feather reptiles'
Fast food chain Hungry Jacks has released an anti-seagull chip packet in an attempt to stop the birds pinching fries.
The new reflective chip packet has a hologram that aims to scare off the birds, dubbed "chip-addicted feather reptiles" by Hungry Jacks.
A HJ's spokesperson said the new packaging offers “an optical distraction that deters seagulls in a harmless manner”.
“We felt compelled to offer our customers better solutions ... and arm them with protection from seagulls,” a company spokesman said.
7News in Queensland put the reflective gear to the test, alongside chip favourites McDonalds and KFC.
The test was a failure, but according to Hungry Jacks, the reflective packaging works best when being held - rather than being left unattended.
The new packaging is available at the Bondi, Circular Quay and Manly in NSW, Surfers Paradise in QLD, Seaford in SA and at Falcon, Rockingham and Fremantle in WA.
